Unmasked

unnamed copy.jpg

"Unmasked" is a series of black-and-white photographs printed in large format on brushed aluminum dibond.

These photos focus on the nude figure interacting within my 'Metamorphic Weavings' Sculptures and skin intimacy. Almost everyone can identify with the feeling of being uncomfortable in their skin. This discomfort does not discriminate. "Unmasked" was created to showcase imperfection. In the world of constant editing, the masking tool is used to layer over or hide "flaws" in photos. The word unmasked is a term for peeling away or unconcealing. These photos are about the refusal to mask societal imperfections and instead showcase them in an aesthetic way, proving that there is beauty in scars, hair, and stretch marks.
