Living Threads

Living Threads comes from my fascination with forms found in nature, specifically vine tendrils and root formations. I’m drawn to how they cling, stretch, and adapt in their pursuit of light, evoking a sense of resilience. The vine formations I constantly encounter in nature feel inherently feminine and figurative. Through them, I think about how nature binds humanity, while we currently exist in profound disconnection, Western society feeling as though it is hanging on by literal threads.

These works are hand-threaded, hand-wrapped, and labor-intensive, intentionally presenting textile art as fine art, a medium long dismissed as “women’s work.” By bringing these processes into the sculptural space, I invite viewers to reflect on fragility, resilience, and the increasingly frayed threads that bind humanity.
