Validity

"Validity" is my MFA in sculpture series of works that explore installation sculpture, fabric sculpture, bronze casting, photography, and audience-based interaction.

My thesis body of work addresses themes surrounding societal pressures, the human experience, protection, womanhood, and transformation. These themes are used as subject matter, often intermingling within a piece to create discourse surrounding the sculpture's meaning.

Form and the human body are inherently tied to sculptural work. To experience a sculpture three-dimensionally, one must move around the structure and assess its form. "Validity" is based entirely on inspiration found in the "Curved Diamond Shape," a form I used in conversation with every piece in this body of work.
